Barrett The name Barrett in Ireland is of Anglo-Norman origin having arrived in the country in the twelfth century. They formed Septs along the native Gaelic lines that were called Baroid in the Province of Munster and Baireid in the Province of Connaught. It is in Counties Cork and Mayo that the majority of descendants can still be found.
