Fleming The name Fleming in Ireland is often derived from the Flemings who settled in Slane in County Meath after the Norman invasion in the twelfth century. The name is now most frequently found in Ulster where settlers from England and Scotland became established. These settlers are likely to have been of European origin, from Flanders in Belgium.
