Keys The names Keys and Keyes in Ireland are often of immigrant origin having been brought into the country by settlers from England, especially during the seventeenth century. The native Gaelic Mac Aoidh Sept of County Donegal sometimes anglicized their name as Keys as well as the more usual MacKee or MacKay.
