Examples of such are a Nicholas Manley, of Poulton, who was recorded in the 'Wills at Chester', England, in the year 1595. An Ann Manley, of Chester, was also recorded in the year 1618 in this ancient document.

Manley is also derived from the native Gaelic O'Mainle Sept of County Cork.The Manley family crest (or coat of arms) came into existence many centuries ago.
