Scully The Irish name Scully is derived from the native Gaelic O'Scolaidhe Sept that is taken froma word that translates as 'student'. The Sept was initially located in County Westmeath but migrated to County Tipperary. The O'Scollain Sept of County Derry also sometimes adopted Scully as the anglicized form of their name.
