Sharkey The name Sharkey in Ireland is derived from the native Gaelic O'Searcaigh Sept that was located in County Tyrone in the North of the country. It is in Ulster and in County Louth that the majority of descendants can still be found. The name is taken from a Gaelic word that translates as 'loving'.
