Doyle The name Doyle in Ireland is of Norse origin having been brought to the East of the country during the ninth to eleventh centuries. The name is taken from the Gaelic words 'dubh ghall', that translate as 'dark stranger'. The majority of Doyle descendants can be found in the Province of Leinster and in County Dublin in particular.
