White The name White in Ireland was brought to the country by settlers in the fourteenth century. The Gaelic form of the name is de Faoite although the use of the words 'ban' and 'geal' that both translate as 'white', has led to a number of anglicized versions of this name including Bann, Bawn, Kilbane, Bannane and even Galligan. The name is now among the fifty most frequently found in Ireland.
