The names Collin and Collins were adopted by a large number of native Irish families in the seventeenth century. They are among the fifty most frequently found in the country. The O'Coileains and the O'Cuilleains were the main Septs based in Limerick and Cork respectively and it is in these Counties that the majority of descendants can still be found.
