McArdell The names McArdell and McArdle in Ireland are derived from the native Gaelic Oriel MacArdghail Sept who were based in the Counties Louth and Monaghan area. The name means 'high valour' and the Sept was originally a branch of the McMahons. The majority of descendants can still be found in the ancestral homeland Counties.
