McDonald The name McDonald in Ireland is derived from either Scottish settlers who arrived in to the Province of Ulster in the seventeenth century or from the native Gaelic MacDomhnall Sept that was more usually anglicized as McDonnell. It is in Ulster that the majority of descendants can still be found.
